SeedSpot is another reason to love downtown Phoenix life

seedspot.orgHot off the wire is an announcement that the City of Phoenix, driven by Mayor Stanton, has approved a partnership to lease office pace to SEEDSpot, a local business incubator firm.

SEEDspot is anticipating opening its doors this coming fall where it will provide space and knowledge designed to help social entrepreneurs. So what is a social entrepreneur? According the article released by the City, they are for-profit businesses that create a positive impact on life and the community and SEEDspot already has dozens of companies on their waiting list. Pretty exciting for our town!!

Here is a little blub from Mayor Stanton on SEEDspot and why such partnership are important to our city’s long term health:

“SEEDspot is an example of exactly what our city needs at exactly the right time,” Mayor Greg Stanton said. “Phoenix is coming out of this recession, but in order to break that boom-and-bust cycle of the past, we need innovative ideas generated by new entrepreneurs, helped by incubators, to drive Arizona’s economy toward future success. Phoenix has to lead with a diverse and sustainable economy and we can achieve that with partnerships like these.”

If you have a business plan and are looking for help to make it reality, SEEDspot is taking applications. Up to twenty ventures will be selected to participate in the program that includes educational workshops, business development tools, local mentors and more. You can apply at www.seedspot.org beginning in July.

Congratulations to Mayor Stanton and the Phoenix City Counsel for thinking and creating long term solutions. Its nice to see people being proactive verses reactive, and especially welcomed from our local leaders.
