Our friends Al Bravo and Allison Otu just sent us info about the upcoming UA Medical School public lecture series.  If you read our posts then you know how much we love UA Med and the wonderful services they bring to downtown Phoenix; Their ongoing community lectures is among our favorites.

Dr. Howard Silverman to talk about ceremony and healing.

The lectures will take on two formats, Smart Start and Science Café. The Smart Start lectures will be breakfast time programs while the Science Café will be held in the early evening.  Without further adieu, lets take a look at the upcoming public lectures being hosted by UA Medical in downtown Phoenix AZ.

• Wednesday, February 6:  Legos and Traumatic Brain Injuries: How a toy can offer insight into how the brain heals itself. This will be held at the Science Café from 5:00 – 6:30pm
• Tuesday, February 19th:  Healing Ceremonies, Do they work?  This is a lecture by our friend Dr.Howie Silverman. He is very knowledgeable about the art of ceremony and may even bring some of his gongs. Held at the 8th Day Coffee & Culture at 828 N. 2nd Street.
• Tuesday, March 5th:  Tales from the ER.  Jason Knight, an ER doc, gets rave reviews for this educational and highly entertaining talk. This will be held at the Science Café from 5:00 – 6:30pm.
• Thursday, April 4th. Laughter is the Best Medicine… a look at caregiving by Georgia Hall, PhD, MPH. This will be held at the Science Café from 5:00 – 6:30pm.
• Tuesday, April 16th: What is Integrative Medicine. A look at integrative medicine by a great authority, Dr. Heidi Rula, Medical Director at UA Center for Integrative Medicine.
• Thursday, May 2nd: How regenerative lizard tails may mean something to humans. This will be held at the Science Café from 5:00 – 6:30pm.
