CVS Opens at CityScape in Downtown Phoeinx

July 21, 2010 by The Urban Team · Leave a Comment

In a prior post we mentioned that CVS Pharmacy at CityScape in downtown Phoenix would be opening their doors at the end of July. Well… it is happening and we have the details for your enjoyment direct from the gang at Red Development and CityScape. He is the press release

CVS CityScape Phoenix CityScape welcomes the opening of our second retail tenant, the first one on the Patriot’s Square block Monday morning when CVS/Pharmacy officially opens its doors to the general public.  CVS/Pharmacy will become the first pharmacy in the downtown neighborhood in more than 30 years.

Join us at 9:00am Monday July 26th as we cut the ribbon and open the doors to a much needed store. Mayor Phil Gordon will be on hand to welcome CVS to downtown Phoenix and they will have giveaway bags to hand out while supplies last.
A few of the amenities that CVS/Pharmacy will have will be:

  • Photo Department
  • Full Liquor Department with beer, large wine selection, and spirits available warm and cold
  • Expanded coolers and freezers
  • Including sandwiches, lunch items and dairy, and ice
  • Expanded grocery set
  • ATM
  • Souvenir Section

The new CVS Pharmacy will provide some services currently missing for downtown Phoenix workers and dwellers. Too bad it is not a locally owned business, but there are few independents left in the US Pharmacy/Sundry world these days.

If you are free at 9:00 on July 26th come to CityScape in downtown Phoenix for the festivities.

City Scape to Add 3 Restaurants and a Lounge

April 29, 2010 by The Urban Team · 1 Comment

Welcome to our City Scape update for April 2010. The gang at Red Development just announced additions to the already impressive list of tenants for the downtown Phoenix project. The latest is the addition of three restaurants and a cocktail lounge to the mix.

The Doyle Group, a New Orleans restaurant company is set to bring some fun new offerings touted to be value priced diversions from the norm.  The new places are to include:

la crepe La Crepe Nanou: A romantic French bistro with a New Orleams flair featuring a yummy assortment of crepes (both entre and desert), fondue, roasted meats, salads and lots more. It will be based on their existing New Orleans store that has gotten some pretty rave reviews on Yelp.

BrewPublic Craft House: The focus is craft style beers and light food faire in this new concept from the Doyle Group. ( I have a call into the Doyle Group to get more details and will update this post when I hear back from them.)

Huey’s 24/7 Diner: I think the name says it all. Reported to have an inexpensive menu. I hope that is true as we need more affordable venues at CityScape.

rasputin Rasputin Vodka Bar: Rasputin was a Russian mystic and sometimes called the Mad Monk. Don’t know what that mean in relationship to a bar/lounge except I have had cryptic thoughts myself after imbibing spirits… mostly from Tequila though, not Vodka.

The restaurants are scheduled to open in the Fall and provides even more evidence that downtown Phoenix is the place to live, work and play.

Speaking of living… if you need to find a great place to call home in downtown Phoenix, we are here for you. Whether its a condo, historic home or just a sweet house, we’d be honored to help you find the right space.

City Scape Adds New Tenants To Make Downtown More Fun

April 6, 2010 by The Urban Team · 1 Comment

RED Development has announced additions to their already noteworthy list of tenants at City Scape in downtown Phoenix, AZ. The latest accords include a comedy club, bank and restaurant.

cityscape Stand-up Live will bring live comedy to downtown Phoenix in a 600 seat club that combines theater, restaurant and martini lounge. Stand Up Live is the brain child of Dan Mer of Tempe Improv fame. He is a noted leader in the comedy industry and says he is excited to bring his favorite entertainment art form to the urban core. In addition to shows, Mer says the club will offer comedy classes for kids and adults to help nurture local comedy talent.

Second up on the City Scape scene is LGO Public House a new restaurant concept by LGO Hospitality. LGO Hospitality is best known for their core store line, La Grande Orange. The Public House is described as an urban gastro-pub and will feature updated American fare served indoors and on an outside patio.

Bob Lynn says about his restaurants, “We are not about conformity. We create restaurants for the neighborhoods they’re located.” You’ll have to wait a while to enjoy their food though as the scheduled opening isn’t until this coming December.

Lastly in our City Scape update is the addition of Alliance Bank of Arizona. Alliance is our State’s 13th largest bank and a strong lender for the City Scape project with 40.2 million in loans extended to build the retail space and parking garage. Nice to see someone with skin in the game make an even deeper commitment to the neighborhood.

To wrap things up, lets give you the rest of the current City Scape tenant list and some projected opening dates to look forward to:

Oakville Grocery – opening in September
LGO Public House – opening in December

I don’t know about you, but I am impressed with what RED Development is doing in downtown Phoenix. At a time when most commercial players are sitting on the sidelines licking their wounds, RED is on the field scoring big goals. The added vitality, job base and hope they’re bringing to our core is important and inspiring.
