Every two years the public is invited into what many say is Phoenix’s most prestigious historic district for the Encanto-Palmcroft Historic Home Tour. Encanto Palmcroft has a rich history dating back to 1927 when Dwight B. Heard and William Hartranft envisioned a fantastic new neighborhood. Soon it was filled with a variety of revival style homes including: Mediterranean, Tudor, Colonial, Federal, French Cottage, Pueblo and more.
Visitors to the Encanto-Palmcroft Historic Home Tour are encouraged to park at Phoenix City College where you can buy your tickets and take a Trolley to the festivities. If you would rather walk to the tour, you may purchase your ticket at the 9th & Monte Vista ticket table. Be aware though that parking in the Encanto Palmcroft neighborhood is restricted during the event.
Besides the home tour, guests can enjoy live music, food, and commemorative home tour T-Shirts… a favorite item for a lot of us,, plus the proceeds go to help support the area.
You have a couple choices when touring the homes. You can take a leisurely walk using the map that is included with your ticket or hop on a trolley that will take you within a half block of the various homes. By the way, the map has info on each home so you’ll be able to learn about the history and architectural style.
