If you take a trip up Central to Monroe and head a bit west you’ll arrive at one of downtown Phoenix most cherished Irish Pubs, Seamus McCaffrey’s.

Seamus McCaffrey’s is owned by long time friends Frank and Andy. They have created a real neighborhood pub with traditional Irish food, a great selection of imported draught ales/beers, the finest selection of Irish Whisky in town, often times live music and a feel that will make you think your in Chicago or Boston’s Irish districts.

If a cold beer sound goods, you have some great choices on tap including:  Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Strongbow Cider, Guinness Stout, Harp Lager, Bass Ale, Newcastle Brown Ale, Four Peaks Kiltlifter, Widmer Hefeweizen, Smithwick’s Irish Ale and Stella Artois.

For whiskey lovers the list is long and impressive. The hardest thing will be to decide between the 15 Irish offers, the 50+ Highland Scotch’s (including Glenmorangie Margaux) and the tall list of lowland and blended whiskeys.

Irish influenced food items add to the overall experience. The fish & chips always get rave reviews as does the Beef & Guiness Boxty and shepherds pie.

If you are visiting downtown Phoenix for an event like the 2011 NBA All-Star Game, a DBacks game or other event, Seamus McCaffrey’s is a great place to start or end the festivities. It is no wonder it is on the Urban Team’s list of 100 things to do and places to go in Downtown Phoenix.
