When you get off the Van Buren light rail station and head west you may pass by the Crescent Ballroom and Lounge. If it’s after 5:00 you just may want to stop by for a bite, beverage and music.
The Crescent Ballroom is the brainchild of music promoter Charlie Levy. Levy says he wanted to open a venue for some time and when the circa 1917 building at 308 N. 2nd Ave came up he knew it was right. With about 7000 sq.ft. of space, the Crescent has room for small live band concerts (seating in the 600 people range) as well as a full service restaurant and lounge.
Here is how the Crescent Ballroom Describes itself:
Crescent Ballroom is three things. It’s a mid-size music venue in Downtown Phoenix able to accommodate crowds in the 300-550 range. Crescent Ballroom also is a Lounge, open daily with full-bar service, and free live music everyday. The final component is our Kitchen, featuring a unique menu hand-crafted and operated by Chris Bianco, of Pizzeria Bianco, and Doug Robson, of Gallo Blanco.
Reviews on Yelp Phoenix are generally favorable… especially for the concert venue and bar. Food gets some mixed reviews and most everyone says the service is cheerful and bathrooms are clean.
Information about upcoming concerts can be found on the Crescent’s web site: http://www.crescentphx.com/ and you can buy tickets online, at the Crescent or at Stickweeds at 12 W. Camelback… a great indie music store.
We’d love to hear your feedback on this or any of the other things we have on our best places to go and things to do in downtown Phoenix AZ.
