Rollover Doughnuts-Coffee Downtown Phoenix

rollover doughnuts and coffeeSome might call this a marriage made in heaven. News is out Shine Coffee has been sold to Short leash owners, Kat and Brad Moore to create a new downtown Phoenix experience…Rollover Donuts plus coffee. The ownership change happens on October 1 and the grand opening on October 4.

It’s pretty cool went two downtown establishments come together to create a new experience. Most of us know Short Leash as their trucks are seen just about everywhere. This past summer they added a new truck, Rollover Doughnuts with the moniker, Woof ‘em Down. Thus, the purchase of Shine Coffee allows the Moore’s to marry two morning favorites in lone location. Just in case you are wondering about the name “Roolover” Doughnuts just think about the subline of Short Leah Hot Dogs… “sit, stay” and now “rollover.” Clever are these Moores.

We tried most of the new Rollover Doughnut creations including the Orange Glaze with Pistachios sprinkled on top and the simple Cinnamon Sugar. We expect the Maple Glazed with Bacon will be an obvious hit and The Bear will appeal to those with a more adventurous steak. The brioche doughnut is topped with a tangy-sweet peanut butter and bbq sauce glaze, as well as a handful of crunchy Crackerjacks. The menu also includes a smaller selection of fritters. The Lemon Ricotta Fritter comes with your choice of strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate glaze, while the Apple Fritter — rolled in cinnamon and sugar — comes with a caramel dipping sauce.

We are told Rollover donuts are based on a “brioche” style pastry. Being Realtors verses pastry chefs we had to Google that one to see what it meant. Here is the Wikipedia tale:

Brioche is a pastry of French origin that is akin to a highly enriched bread, and whose high egg and butter content give it a rich and tender crumb. It is “light and slightly puffy, more or less fine, according to the proportion of butter and eggs.

All in all, we truly wish Kat and Brad great success with the new venture. Speaking of new ventures, Laryn recently joined the Realty Executives family… the same brokerage your Urban Team is at. We wish her well on this new adventure… there is little doubt she excel.
