‘Tis the season to shop small and eat local!
We love all things #DTPhx and our locally owned shops and restaurants are a huge part of what makes Phoenix such an amazing city. While it’s super easy to order from those Sites Who Shall Not Be Named, we think this is the perfect time to keep it local to help our beloved Mom & Pop shops and restaurants not only survive but thrive. Here are a few of our favorite local spots that really have something for everyone.
Shops
Made Art Boutique – Opened in 2005 and located in the heart of downtown, this locally owned boutique specializes in handmade wares, jewelry and ceramics.
Bunky Boutique – Bunky just opened their new shop on Central Avenue, where you can find unique clothing, jewelry, and great items for your home.
Changing Hands – In midtown Phoenix, this bookstore carries books, gifts, ornaments, and so much more. It’s also a great place to find fun stocking stuffers and white elephant gifts.
Francis – With clothes, housewares, jewelry, candles, baby stuff and an amazing selection of greeting cards, you can always find something fabulous at Francis!
HissyFits Resale – This high-end kids consignment shop carries gently used clothes and toys, as well as new gifts that are perfect for stocking stuffers.
Poor Little Rich Girl – Located at Bethany Home and 16th Street, this high-end consignment shop carries women’s clothing, shoes and purses, and also have a great selection of locally made jewelry and candles.
Strawberry Hedgehog – This locally owned vegan shop carries non-toxic and plant-based body care, including the most amazing smelling soaps. Their storefront is currently closed, but you can order online.
Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market – You can find so much more than produce here! Buy locally made jewelry, clothes, skincare, candles, housewares and all kinds of other great gifts at the market on Saturdays.
Practical Art – This retail and gallery space features pieces from only local Arizona artisans, and you can always find something great here.
Restaurants
Taco Chelo – Located in the Roosevelt Row, this is seriously the best taco shop, but everything at Taco Chelo is absolutely delicious!
Carly’s Bistro – This Roosevelt Row favorite has delicious and eclectic sandwiches, salads and cocktails – all available for take-out, curbside pick-up, and dine-in.
Hanny’s – This swanky restaurant and bar is located in the famous Hanny’s Department Store, and is known for their stylish and trendy cocktails, food, and atmosphere. We suggest ordering a Classic Martini – and make sure you check out the basement!
Monroe’s Hot Chicken is touted as ‘The Best of Nashville in Downtown Phoenix’ and rightfully so! Located in the Luhrs Tower, this popular downtown restaurant is known for their friendly atmosphere, great music and all things spicy. Make sure to order some southern slaw to cool you down just in case!
Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour features inspired and award-winning cocktails and food from an innovative and stylish spot located in the Luhrs Building.
