A Valley native and longtime resident of Downtown Phoenix, Steve Caniglia loves sharing the best of the area with our clients and readers. So, what’s he doing to survive – and thrive – in that epic summer heat with his kiddos? Let’s ask him…

You’re a passionate Windsor Square resident. What are some of your favorite perks to living in the historic neighborhood?

Honestly, my favorite part about living in Windsor Square is the strong sense of community. Everyone looks out for each other, and genuinely cares about the homes and their neighbors. It’s really a wonderful pocket of the Valley.

Summer is officially upon us. How do you and your family plan on beating that infamous Phoenix heat?

We love going to the Arizona Diamondbacks games at Chase Field or hitting up the splash pads at The Orchard in North Central. We do a lot of early-morning visits to The Phoenix Zoo, but you’ll also find us at Odysea Aquarium in Scottsdale, the aquarium at the Wildlife World Zoo, Heard Museum, Arizona Science Center and the Children’s Museum of Phoenix – just to name a few. Of course no summer is complete without several visits to our favorite ice cream joints, Churn and the Creamistry.

Finish this sentence: You know you live in Downtown Phoenix when…

…all in a single day, you go from an amazing brunch at Matt’s Big Breakfast then hop the Light Rail to Phoenix Public Market before catching a Diamondbacks game or bowling at Lucky Strike – topping it all off with dinner at Pomo Pizzeria and live music at Crescent Ballroom. It’s never, ever boring down here.
